Digitized card with 1D and 2D barcodes on back. CDL denoted by "COM-MERCIAL DRIVER LICENSE" in green headbar. For non-U.S. citizens, license has red "TEMP IMMGR STATUS" above right side of headbar. Recently issued CDLs have "CDL NON-DOMICILED" in place of "TEMP IMMGR STATUS." Non-CDLs may show out-of-state address.
Vertical format; red photo frame with yellow "UNDER 21 UNTIL (date)" at right. Yellow type bar for provisional and probationary licenses. Photo is at left, below headbar on current license, at lower left on prior and probationary licenses.
Ghost image; fine-line back-ground; rainbow printing; state seal and "NJ" repeat in holographic overlay; repeating "NEW JERSEY" and state silhouette visible under UV light (see page 74). Back has micro-printing.
15 characters, spaced 5-5-5, coded as follows (see current license): N = first letter of last name; 2963 26763 = state licensing codes; 0970 = month and year of birth; 2 = eye color. (Note: 50 is added to birth month for females [e.g., 51 = January; 61 = November]. For males, the birth month is 01, 02, etc.)
Expires at month end, 4 years from issue date. 6-month early renewal option avail-able. For non-U.S. citizens, expiration date matches that on immigration documents.
